A long one-way Saturday stomp across the Mendips.

You do not need to book a place on this walk - just turn up at the meeting point and time.
Meeting time 11:45am for a 12:00pm start.
Meeting point Meet at the bus stop outside the Nelson Arms.
End point Oldmixon.
Terrain, difficultly and accessibility This is a long walk, with some steep hill climbs and descents. Requires a good level of fitness. The terrain is a mix of fields, woodland and country roads. It might be muddy, if it’s been raining.
The total walking time is 4 hours. Not suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.
Toilets There are no public toilets on the route.
Cafe/pub If there is time at the end of the walk before the bus arrives, you can stop for a drink at The Walnut Tree.
Lunch Bring your own packed lunch.
Parking Please allow enough time to find parking. There is free parking at Churchill Football Club. This is a 10-minute walk from the meeting point. You will need to catch the 5:32pm U2 bus from Oldmixon to Churchill at the end of the walk.
Public transport Take the 11am U2 bus from Bristol Bus Station to Churchill. On the way back, take the 5:32pm U2 bus from Oldmixon to Bristol. You can also catch buses to Weston-super-Mare and take the train back.

What to wear/bring Bring water and some lunch and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes, layers and waterproofs if it’s raining. We recommend long trousers for summer walks because of overgrown brambles and ticks.
