A walk round Blaise Estate followed by a dip, sauna and picnic at Henleaze lake - can you imagine anything dreamier?

We’ll set off on a walk that should take us about 3 hours. Then we’ll have access to the lake from 4pm until 8pm, for swimming, sauna and a picnic together.

You can get a walk only ticket if you just want to do the walk element.

    • Swimmers

    • Towel (and extra towel for the sauna)

    • Suncream

    • Wetsuit (if you want to)

    • Picnic food

    • Snacks

    • Plenty of water

    • Picnic blanket or camping chair

  • There is one accessible gender neutral toilet. There’s several gender neutral individual changing cubicles indoors, and some further any gender outdoor changing cubicles on the other side of the lake. There should also be one gender neutral accessible shower when we’re there.

There are men’s and women’s changing facilities (cubicles and communal changing), toilets and showers. We have been assured that no restrictions have been put in place for these facilities following the Supreme Court ruling.

Henleaze Lake said: “Everyone is welcome and we would consider the Club a safe space for everyone.”

We will not have exclusive use of the lake and there will be other swimmers around, although we will have an area reserved for us to sit together.

  • We anticipate this will be a popular walk and we’re sorry if you miss out on a swim spot.

    You can:

    • sign up to the waitlist, and we’ll let you know if a swim space becomes available

    • get a walk-only ticket and hope for a no show. We’ll issue you a numbered ticket at the start of the walk and if we have any swimming no shows, we’ll pick from a hat to fill the places

    • do both!

  • Henleaze swim lake is a members-only swimming lake (with a very, very long waitlist!)

You need to be able to swim 50 metres unaided in open water to use the swim lake.

We’re really lucky they have allowed us to visit as a community group as part of their wider usage scheme. You can visit the lake website for more information on what to expect.

  • The lake are not charging us to use it, but we have made the decision to attach a cost to:

    • cover our admin costs for planning and organising the event

    • avoid a high drop out and no show rate. We have found in the past that when we offer free ticketed events, we have a lot of no shows. This means opportunities like this are not used to their full potential. Lots of people who would’ve come miss out.

Any extra money we make from this event beyond our costs will be put towards our equipment bursary scheme, to help low income members buy the kit they need (launching soon).
