Tintern Abbey and Devil’s Pulpit

A classic Wye Valley stomp!

A lovely woodland climb up to the vantage point where the Devil would tempt the monks below. And if we're not lucky enough to meet the Devil himself, we'll be passing through some filming locations from Sex Education.

Walk info

Meeting time 10:45am for an 11am start.

Meeting point Outside the Anchor Inn, 2 Saint Mary Street, Tintern, Chepstow, NP16 6TE.

Difficulty Elevation is challenging with a very steep, long ascent, which could be muddy in wet weather. Slightly less steep descent, but similar terrain.

Toilets Public toilets at the start and end.

Cafe/pub The Anchor Inn.

Lunch stop Bring a packed lunch.

Public transport Not possible for this walk. Try the rideshare Whatsapp group to find a lift.

Parking The Anchor Inn car park. It’s £5, but the ticket can be redeemed at the pub against your food, or entry to the Abbey if you want to explore after.

Dogs Dogs are welcome on the walk.

Access info The walk is on woodland paths, and the beginning part of the walk has a lot of steps. Not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.
