Painswick - Cotswold Way loop

We’re off to the Costwolds again! We just can’t get enough of those rolling hills.

9 miles, 5 hours

You do not need to book a place on this walk - just turn up at the meeting point and time.

Meeting time 10:45am, to set off at 11am.

Meeting point Meet at the Stamages Lane car park near Painswick, GL6 6UZ.

Difficulty Fairly challenging. Around 4hrs walking time, with one prolonged ascent, then undulating terrain and a steep-ish descent.

Route Komoot route

Toilets There are public toilets at the car park at the start and end of the route. There’s a pub towards the start/end of the walk you may be able to use.

Cafe/pub We might stop at the Edgemoor Inn towards the end of the route, or there’s pubs in Painswick at the end.

Lunch Bring your own packed lunch and snacks.

Parking Stamages Lane car park, £2.50 all day. If you’re driving please offer a lift in the rideshare Whatsapp group.

Public transport Difficult for this one - try the rideshare Whatsapp group for a lift.

Dogs Dogs are welcome but there will be livestock, so they need to be on a lead, and may need lifting over stiles.

Access info Not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Stiles, field and country paths. Likely to be muddy.

What to wear/bring Wear suitable clothes for hiking - waterproof hiking boots, layers, waterproof jacket and trousers, a rucksack and plenty of water, food and snacks.
