Welcome walk: Yatton to Nailsea

This is your sign to give Queer Hiking a try! Come solo or with a friend. A medium walk at a relaxed pace from Yatton to Nailsea.

This walk is aimed at newcomers but people who’ve come along before are still welcome to join!

6 miles, 4.5 hours

You do not need to book a place on this walk - just turn up at the meeting point and time.

Meeting time 11am for coffee at the cafe, and we’ll start the walk at 12pm.

Meeting point Meet outside the Strawberry Line Cafe at Yatton station.

End point Nailsea and Backwell Station.

Terrain, difficultly and accessibility This is a medium walk which is relatively flat. Suitable for most fitness levels. The terrain is a mix of urban footpaths, fields and country roads. It might be muddy, if it’s been raining.

The total walking time is 2.5 hours. Not suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.

Toilets There are public toilets at Yatton station. Please be aware that Nailsea and Backwell station does not have toilets.

Cafe/pub No planned stop at the end of the walk, just the cafe at the start.

Lunch Bring your own packed lunch.

Public transport Take the 10:26am or 10:55am train from Bristol Temple Meads to join for a coffee before the walk. Or 11:24am train to join for the walk. On the way back, catch the train from Nailsea and Backwell to Bristol Temple Meads. Bus connections are also available.

Parking Please allow enough time to find parking in Yatton, and be mindful of local residents. This is a one-way walk, so you will need to catch a train back from Nailsea and Backwell to the start point.

Dogs Dogs are not advised for this walk, sadly!

What to wear/bring Bring water and some lunch and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes, layers and waterproofs if it’s raining. We recommend long trousers for summer walks because of overgrown brambles and ticks.
