Terrain, difficultly and accessibility

This is a short walk that is suitable for most fitness levels. Part one is suitable for all types of wheelchair.

The total walking time for the whole route is 1 hour 15 mins. We have split it into 2 parts. We will all meet back at the Salthouse pub after you have done the part of the route you want to.

Part one (35 minutes walking time, approx 1.25 miles).
This part goes along the seafront to the pier and back.
Terrain is pavement and paved paths and is flat. There are no stiles or gates. Suitable for wheelchairs.

Part two (35 mins walking time, approv 1.25 miles)

This part goes along Poet’s Walk to the harbour. We will either return the same way or come back through the fields and woods depending on the group needs.

Terrain is paved paths suitable for electric wheelchairs. There is one short, steep climb at the start, so probably not suitable for manual wheelchairs. No gates if we return the same way.

Route OS Maps route.

Swim Bring your swimmers to have a dip in the Marine Lake afterwards. Or visit the sauna!

What to wear/bring Bring water and snacks. Wear comfortable shoes, layers and waterproofs if it’s raining. We recommend long trousers for summer walks because of overgrown brambles and ticks.
