Westbury White Horse loop

A public transport friendly stomp to see a big white horse!

10 miles, 5.5 hours

You do not need to book a place on this walk - just turn up at the meeting point and time.

Meeting time 10am for a 10.15am start

Meeting point Meet at Westbury Railway Station, BA13 4HP.

Difficulty Fairly challenging. Around 4.5hrs walking time, with one prolonged ascent and descent, then mostly flat for the second half.

Toilets There are toilets at the train station at the start and end of the walk.

Cafe/pub The Railway Inn at the end of the walk.

Lunch Bring your own packed lunch and snacks.

Parking We recommend you get the train, but you can park at the train station (£3.50 all day).

Public transport Get the 9.22am train from Bristol Temple Meads to arrive at 10am. We’ll aim to get the 3.39pm or 4pm train back. £15.50 return - if cost is a barrier, please email queerhikingbristol@gmail.com and we can pay for your train.

The same train goes through Bath Spa at 9.36am.

Dogs Dogs are welcome but there will be livestock, so they need to be on a lead, and may need lifting over stiles.

Access info Not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies. Stiles, field and country paths. Likely to be muddy.

What to wear/bring Wear suitable clothes for hiking - waterproof hiking boots, layers, waterproof jacket and trousers, a rucksack and plenty of water, food and snacks.
