Starting near Bath Abbey, we’ll head along the Avon Canal, climbing up to Bathampton Down and a short diversion to admire Sham Castle.

Meeting point Meet outside Bath Abbey, BA1 1LT.
Terrain, difficultly and accessibility Extended stretch along flat, paved canals. 2 hour 40 total walking time. A short but challenging climb up to the final third of the hike on grassy, sometimes muddy paths and one short descent that may be slippy. If the weather is too wet we won't attempt the climb and will switch to an out and back route. One short descent that may be slippy.
Not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.

Toilets There are public toilets just before the canals, and at the end point.
Cafe/pub We end at the Roasted Lemon outdoor cafe, and there are lots of other options if the weather isn't so nice.
Lunch Bring your own packed lunch and snacks.
Parking Paid parking at various spots in Bath, but strongly recommended you use public transport.
Public transport A few options:
Train from Temple Meads - leaving 10:07am, arriving 10:41am
X39 from Bristol Bus Station - leaveing 9:53am, arriving 10:42am
19 bus is an option for Downend/Kingswood/Cadbury Heath, leaving Downend 9:37am and arriving at 10:50am
All ending 5-10 minutes from the meet point.

Dogs Dogs are welcome, but will need to be on lead for livestock.
What to wear/bring Bring snacks, lunch and water. Wear waterproof hiking shoes if you can, or shoes that are comfy and you don’t mind getting muddy. Bring waterproofs if it’s raining, and layers.
