We're not qualified or insured. By coming along you do so at your own risk.

Sorry, no dogs.

  • We’ll be in Millcombe house and the campsite.

The house is the biggest on the island and accommodates 12 people. There are 4 camping spaces booked in the campsite, so the group size is 16 in total.

If the weather is really rough for camping, you will be able to camp out on the floor in the main house.

  • This is a self catering trip.

We’ll organise a group meal at least one evening when we’re there (everyone chips in to the cost), but you can still do your own thing if you prefer.

There’s a small but very well stocked shop in the island to buy food, or you can bring food over with you.

We’ll try and do a group meal at the pub one evening too.

  • On Sunday we’ll do a walk around the whole island (around 8 miles).

On Monday we’ll walk a shorter route and explore some things we missed on Sunday.

There’ll be plenty of time to relax and do your own thing, too.

  • You will need to be comfortable walking on coast paths. There is some up and down and steep steps. It’s not really suitable for wheelchairs.

We ask for access needs so we can chat to you about what to expect and work out if it might be best to sit any hikes or activities out. You don’t have to do full days of walking - the island is small and you should be able to navigate your way back if you want to do partial routes.

Group trips mean we move at group pace. Some people are faster, some are slower. We’ll take regular breaks and it may mean if you’re a faster walker there’s a bit more waiting around.

  • Note the ferry can be quite choppy if you are prone to seasickness.

    Getting there

The ferry to Lundy goes from Illfracombe at 10am, but you will need to be at the ferry port at 9am.

You might want to stay in Illfracombe the night before - you need to book this yourself. There might be others who want to share a room.

We will try to match people up for rideshares to Illfracombe but we cannot guarantee it. You can get a couple of trains and taxi instead, but it takes a while. Please look up the options yourself to make sure you’re prepared to do this if you don’t drive.

You can get long stay parking in Illfracombe.

    Getting back

The ferry returns you to Bideford. We will organise taxis to take us back to Illfracombe to collect cars (not covered in your ticket cost). You may not be back in Bristol until 10/11pm on Tuesday.

  • Your deposit is non-refundable. Deposits are:

    • Single room: £50

    • Twin room place: £50

    • Double room (double or single occupancy): £100

    • Camping: £30

If we can find someone to take your place, we can offer you a refund minus the deposit if you cancel within 3 weeks of the trip (we can usually find someone as we tend to have long waitlists). If we can’t replace you, we cannot offer a refund on any payments made.

Places are non-transferable. If you need to cancel please email queerhikingbristol@gmail.com.

In the 3 weeks before the trip we cannot offer any refunds. You can take out travel insurance to get a refund if you get ill beforehand.

This policy is in place so we can continue to run our events at low cost for people.
