Pembrokeshire weekender

  • YHA Broad Haven Millmoor Way Haverfordwest, Wales, SA62 3JH United Kingdom (map)

It’s time for another January trip to the seaside!

We’re excited to be off to Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire for a (nearly) fully catered 3 night weekender. Think coastal paths, misty mornings and good times.

Led by and for LGBTQ+ folk.

When and where

6pm Thursday 29th January to 2pm Sunday 1st February at YHA Broad Haven.

We recommend taking the afternoon off work Thursday, so you can join us from the start.

Cost and ticket types

  • Low income and marginalised groups place: £70

If you are low income, trans, disabled or neurodivergent you can buy this ticket.

  • QPOC place: £70

If you are a queer person of colour you can buy this ticket.

  • Recommended price place: £110

Anyone can buy this ticket type. This is roughly what it costs to cover the cost of a place.

  • Supporter place: £150

Anyone can buy this ticket type. This ticket type supports us to subsidise lower income members on trips.

If cost is a barrier to attending, please email queerhikingbristol@gmail.com before tickets go on sale. We have some budget to further subsidise places.

Driver and non-driver tickets

To make sure we can all get there, each cost bracket is split into:

Driver: you’re a driver with a car and can take 2-3 passengers with you from Bristol.

Non-driver: you’re not a driver, don’t have a car or are driving but cannot take passengers for whatever reason.

  • We’ll be in dorm accommodation at YHA Broad Haven. It’s a big hostel, with lots of room to spread out. Maximum number of people to a dorm is 4.

Group size is 35, including leaders.

We have exclusive use of the hostel and there will be a dedicated quiet room.

All toilets and showers are gender neutral.

    Sorry, no dogs.

  • The wonderful Robbie from Serving Bristol supper club will be cooking us up a storm again.

Most food is veggie, and we can cater for vegan, GF and most other dietary requirements.

It includes 3 x help yourself breakfasts, 3 x make yourself packed lunch 2 x hot dinner in the evening. We’ll go to the pub one evening for a meal, which you’ll need extra money for.

  • We’re working out the final details, but it will look something like the below.

You can opt in/out of any walks. We’re hoping to have some other optional activities to offer as well.

    • Thursday evening: dinner and welcome

    • Friday day: 8-10 mile hike (shorter option available)

    • Friday evening: dinner, games at the bunkhouse. It’s the weekend of our 3rd Birthday, so we may have cake and a lounge disco!

    • Saturday day: 4-6 mile hike plus optional activity

    • Saturday evening: pub dinner

    • Sunday day 3-4 mile hike and back to Bristol

  • The Pembrokeshire coast path is very up and down. The terrain can be quite demanding at times and there’s steep cliffs to one side. We’ll share the routes with attendees with elevations and as much info as we have.

We ask for access needs so we can chat to you about what to expect and work out if it might be best to sit any hikes or activities out.

Group trips mean we move at group pace. Some people are faster, some are slower. We’ll take regular breaks and it may mean if you’re a faster walker there’s a bit more waiting around.

  • We’ll do rideshares, which we sort a few weeks before.

  • You can book up to 2 places for each ticket type if they are available.

Have the following information ready for each person you’re booking a place for:

    • Full name

    • Email address

    • Mobile number

    • Pronouns (optional)

    • Any dietary needs

    • Any access needs, injuries or other needs leaders should know about

Refunds and cancellations

We’re now taking a 20% non-refundable deposit from each booking, except for low income and QPOC places. That works out at:

  • Supporter: £30

  • Recommended: £22

If we can find someone to take your place, we can offer you a refund minus the deposit if you cancel within 3 weeks of the trip (we can usually find someone as we tend to have long waitlists). If we can’t replace you, we can’t offer a refund.

Places are non-transferable. If you need to cancel please email queerhikingbristol@gmail.com.

In the 3 weeks before the trip we cannot offer any refunds.

This policy is in place so we can continue to run our events at low cost for people.

Email any questions to queerhikingbristol@gmail.com.

We're not qualified or insured. By coming along you do so at your own risk.
